Applying to university

Find out more about applying to University of the Built Environment, and about our admissions process.

Background

To apply for a programme at University of the Built Environment, please visit the ‘Start Your Journey’ section of our website. This page will guide you through the steps you need to take in order to apply for your chosen course, and includes step-by-step videos of the application process. Please note that applying for an Apprenticeship programme is slightly different. Take a look at our Apprenticeship Programmes page for details.

You should also think about declaring your autism on your application form. This will not impact on the University’s decision to offer/not offer a place but it will enable you to access support and adjustments if required. It can also be helpful to get an idea of what support is available before applying.

How could this affect me?

Knowing more about the application and admissions process will enable you to prepare, and think about whether you require any support or adjustments through this process e.g. additional information about support during your studies. If you have any concerns about sharing your autistic identity in the admissions process, or would like to talk about your options for support on your chosen programme, you can contact the Disability Support team by emailing disabilitysupport@ube.ac.uk

Practical tips

  • You may want to think about how much time you will need to spend studying. Please check individual programme details to find out how much time you will need to commit. You will find these on the programme pages of our website.
  • Check when you should apply for your chosen programme. Make a note of important deadline dates.
  • Find out what evidence you need to support your application; for example verified IT documents, qualifications, a CV, or academic transcript
  • Consider if you would like to speak to a Disability Adviser about the support available before you apply. Contact the Disability Support team at disabilitysupport@ube.ac.uk if you feel that this would be useful for you.
  • Once you have received confirmation of your place on the course, consider applying for Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs); the process can sometimes take a while, so the sooner you apply, the more likely it is that you can get some support in place for the start of your studies

Questions to think about

  • What steps are involved in the application process?
  • What do you need to submit to support your application?
  • Do you need to provide evidence or documentation?
  • When are the deadlines for applications?
  • When should you expect to hear if your application has been successful?
  • Who do you need to contact to discuss disability support?
  • Have you applied for DSA (if Non-Apprentice)?
